Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted hair can be treated on most areas of the face and body, including the legs, chin, upper lip, bikini line, underarms, back & chest.

Energist VPL uses advanced Variable Pulsed Light technology to safely and effectively reduce unwanted hair using short, controlled pulses of filtered light. The light targets the melanin in the hair without damaging the surrounding skin.

A wide variety of skin and hair types can be treated safely and effectively. Treatments are quick, with little to no downtime, so you can return to your normal routine straight away.

  • Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients describe the feeling as a quick warm flick on the skin. It is usually very well tolerated and each treatment is quick.

    Can I shave between treatments?

Yes. Shaving is fine between treatments. Please avoid waxing, plucking or threading, as the hair root needs to remain in place for the treatment to work effectively.

Why do I need multiple treatments?

Hair grows in different stages, and VPL is most effective when the hair is in its active growth phase. A course of treatments is needed to target the hairs at the right time.

What should I avoid before treatment?

Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, fake tan, waxing, plucking and threading before treatment. You will receive full pre-care advice at your consultation..

    What happens after treatment?

The skin may feel slightly warm or look a little red, but this usually settles quickly. Treated hairs will gradually shed over the following days and weeks.

Can blonde, grey or red hair be treated?

VPL works by targeting pigment in the hair. Very fair blonde, grey, white or some red hairs may not respond as well because they contain little or no pigment. Suitability will be checked during your consultation.

Can I have treatment in summer?

Yes, but the treated area must be protected from sun exposure before and after treatment. Tanned skin cannot be treated safely, so careful sun protection is essential.

    Is it permanent?

Laser hair removal offers long-term hair reduction. Some maintenance treatments may be needed over time, as hormonal changes and new hair growth can occur.

    Are there any side effects?

Side effects are usually minimal. Temporary redness, warmth or slight sensitivity can occur after treatment. Full aftercare advice will be given to help protect your skin.

    Can men be treated too?

Yes. Energist VPL hair removal is suitable for both men and women and can treat areas such as the back, chest, shoulders, neck and face.

  • Energist VPL laser hair removal may not be suitable if you:

    • Are pregnant

    • Have active skin infections, open wounds or cold sores in the treatment area

    • Have recently used fake tan or have a current tan/sunburn

    • Are using medication that causes light sensitivity

    • Have certain medical conditions affecting the skin

    • Have a history of photosensitive epilepsy

    • Have skin cancer or suspicious skin lesions in the treatment area

    • Are using Roaccutane/Isotretinoin or have used it within the recommended time period

    • Have recently had strong chemical peels or resurfacing treatments

    • Have tattoos or permanent makeup in the treatment area

    • Have uncontrolled diabetes or healing disorders

A full consultation and patch test are required before treatment to ensure the procedure is safe and suitable for you.
